Aloha Region Power League

Get the latest information and results on the Aloha Region Power League.

The 2020 Power League will be open to U18-U15 teams for participation in the 36 team league this season.
Qualifying play will be starting in January at Kekuhaupiʻo Gym at the Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama Campus.
The league will end with the League Finals in April.

The final day of qualification into the 2018 Aloha Region Power League has completed. 30 teams competed for the final 20 spots into this seasonʻs tournament. It was great play by all teams and mahalo to all competitors, coaches and supporters for making this a great environment for volleyball. Best of luck to all teams that have participated in this yearʻs qualifying tournament.

Day 3 - Elimination Pools and Brackets Schedule

This Sunday 1/28/18, the remaining 30 teams will be placed into Elimination Pools and Brackets for qualification into the 2018 Power League. All teams were re-seeded based upon the teamʻs match %, set % and point % from the play on Day 1 (Sunday 1/7/18) and placed into pools for competition. Gyms will open at 7:30am. There will be a short coaches meeting at 7:30am at Kekuhaupiʻo for AM rounds and 11:30am at Kekuhaupiʻo for the PM rounds. First serve will be at 8am. 

Format
Teams will be placed into pools of 3 teams and paired with another 3 team pool for cross over matches. All matches are best of 3. First 2 sets to 25 points, no cap; Deciding set will be to 15 points, no cap, 2  30 sec timeouts per set.

All pool winners will qualify for the Power League. The winners from the 2nd place vs 3rd place cross-over match will qualify for the power league. Losers from the 2nd place vs 3rd place cross over match will be eliminated from the top 32 teams and not qualify for the 2018 Power League.

1/19/18 - Hawaii Volleyball Combine Showcase at Mānoa

In conjunction with the Hawaii Volleyball Combine, the top 12 teams have been invited to participate in the Combine Showcase. Teams will play against each other at Manoa Gym on Friday, January 19th to play in front of many of the coaches who will be present at the Hawaii Volleyball Combine this weekend. Mahalo nui to the leadership of the Hawaii Volleyball Combine for providing this amazing opportunity for our Aloha Region Scholar-Athletes and Aloha Region Power League participants.

Teams will be playing at Manoa District Park on Friday 1/19. All teams will be playing on 3 courts in the gym in timed matches during the 2 hour time block. Aloha Region officials will be on the courts and teams are requested to wear their uniforms to allow for observing coaches to identify scholar-athletes.

1/14/18 - Day 2 Schedule Posted

Schedule for Day 2 of Divisional Qualification has been posted. Teams will be re-seeded based upon the results from Day 1 play and are be placed into Pods of 6 (2 pools of 3 teams). Teams will play each other in their pools and then have a cross-over match with the paired pool teams. The AM wave will start at 8am and PM wave is scheduled to start at 1pm. All play will be at Keawe Gym.

2018 Power League Qualifying Day 1 results

Qualifying for the 2018 Aloha Region Power League is underway. 42 teams will be competing for 32 slots  in this seasonʻs league. Come on down to Kekuhaupiʻo and Keawe Gyms to see some of Hawaiʻiʻs best volleyball scholar-athletes in action today. Morning play will be continuing until 2pm. The afternoon wave will start at 2pm and finish up around 8pm tonight. Results will be updated as the day continues.

These teams will be participating on Sunday 1/14 in the Divisional Qualifying Rounds with play starting at 8am and 1pm at Keawe Gym. More information will be posted shortly. These 12 teams have also qualified to participate in the Friday Team Showcase as their teams will be playing for the numerous coaches that will be in attendance of the 2018 Volleyball Combine in Mānoa on Friday, 1/19 starting at 5pm.

All other teams (30 teams total) will be playing on Sunday 1/28 in the Elimination Rounds starting at 8am or 1pm. There are still 20 spots remaining in the Power League. Best of luck as teams will continue to improve over the next few weeks. 

1/3/18 - Gym Site Logistics

In order to utilize the facilities for the Power League Tournaments, we will need all participants and supporters to adhere to these rules. Failure to comply may result in the loss of gyms and the power league itself. Please do your best to let all of your supporters know about these rules. 

Kamehameha Sites
Parking
Parking will be at the parking structure fronting Kekuhaupiʻo gym. Please be sure to park in marked stalls and follow all posted signs on campus. There is handicapped parking on the bottom floor of the structure. Please do not park in the Kekuhaupiʻo "turn around" area fronting the gym or the Keawe "turn around" area, it must be kept clear for security and/or fire access. Also, there is very limited parking at Keawe gym area and it will be reserved for handicapped access (placards required). All teams and supporters will be expected to park at the Kekuhaupiʻo parking structure and walk to the gym via the stairs. Coaches will be asked to support in enforcement of these guidelines. 

Campus and Facility Rules
In order to continue to utilize facilities on the Kamehameha Campus, we are requesting that all coaches, teams and their supporters, abide by these rules. Please share this information to your team and the supporters.
  1. No Smoking  - Our campus is a no smoking campus and it is not allowed anywhere on campus.
  2. Food and Drink are not allowed into Gym Areas - All food and drink must be consumed outside of the gym areas. No Water will be allowed into the gym. 
  3. Chairs - Chairs with rubber bottoms will be allowed into the gym area for seating. Please abide by the facility manager and officials in the placement of chairs for safety purposes.
  4. No Potlucks/Setups – Per region policy - Only individual bag lunches/drinks area allowed. Our campus also has a “no cooler” rule for all athletic events on campus and we are requesting that all teams will abide by it. The tournament director will discuss with the coaching staff with issues for kokua with enforcement. This is important to share with your supporters as we do not want to jeopardize our facilities use for this league and in the future.
  5. Please do not set up in the areas marked as “no setup”- It will be marked off on the day of the tournament. They will be asked to move. We are going to be having a total of 32 teams in the two gym areas and please be mindful of your area and to allow space for all groups.
  6. Please break down immediately at the conclusion of the tournament play for the day. Please be mindful of your area as there are a few groups that have taken more area and not taken in account that there are many other teams sharing a very limited area. Please be mindful and considerate of your area and our facilities. Please place all trash into the proper receptacles and leave all areas clean.

    Information

    The 2020 Power League will have 48 teams this season qualifying for the 36 team league. Qualifying play will be starting on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Kekuhaupiʻo and Keawe Gyms at the Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama Campus.
