Aloha Region Power League

Get the latest information and results on the Aloha Region Power League.

The 2020 Power League will be open to U18-U15 teams for participation in the 36 team league this season.
Qualifying play will be starting in January at Kekuhaupiʻo Gym at the Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama Campus.
The league will end with the League Finals in April.

1/29 - Day 4 - Final Qualifying Play

The final day of the month long Power League Qualifying tournament will have all 40 teams competing for placement into the 2017 Power League. There has been very competitive play over the past 3 weekends and we will be looking forward to the high level of volleyball for the last day of play.

Division 1 and 2 Qualifying Brackets - 8am Start

The top 16 teams will be competing for seeding into Division 1 (seeds 1-8) and Division 2 (seeds 9-16). Teams will be placed into two separate brackets to play 3 matches. In order to be placed into Division 1, teams will need to finish in the top 4 in their brackets.

Power League Qualifying 

The remaining 24 teams will be placed into qualifying play for the 2017 Power League. Based upon your finish in play in 1/15 (Day 2), teams are placed into six pools of 3. Teams will play all teams in their pool and based upon results, will play a cross-over match with another pool to determine qualification into Division 3 (17-24) and Division 4 (25-32). 8 teams will not qualify for the power league this season. Teams will play a total of 3 matches.

Friday, 1/20 - Hawaii Volleyball Combine Showcase

In conjunction with the Hawaii Volleyball Combine, the top 12 teams have been invited to participate in the Combine Showcase. Teams will play against each other at Manoa Gym on Friday, January 20th starting at _____________ to play in front of many of the coaches who will be present at the Hawaii Volleyball Combine this weekend. Mahalo nui to the leadership of the Hawaii Volleyball Combine for providing this amazing opportunity for our Aloha Region Scholar-Athletes.

Teams 9-16 played in our ranking tournament to determine the seeding of the teams for continued play in the tournament. Play for these teams will resume on Sunday, 1/29 for the final day of the 2017 qualifying tournament. More information on the schedule for Day 4 (1/29) will be posted later in the week.

1/15/17 - Day 2 Results

The 40 teams played their second day of qualifying play in our 2017 PL Qualifying Tournament. There was great competitive volleyball at Kekuhaupiʻo and Keawe gyms all day. Congratulations to the 8 Pool winners will be playing to qualify into the Hawaii Volleyball Combine Showcase to be played on Friday, 1/20. The top 4 teams will be asked to participate and to play for the numerous coaches that will be at the Hawaii Volleyball Combine next weekend.

Next Power League Playdate will be on Sunday, 1/29. This will be the final day of qualifying (Day 4) which we will compete to finalize the top 32 teams who will be competing in the Power League Tournament in 2017. More information on schedules will be posted after play on 1/16.

2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams in all pools will play on Sunday 1/29/17. Day 4 elimination play will have 8 pools of 3 with a cross over match to determine the final 32 teams that will qualify for the 2017 Power League.

PL Qualifying Day 1 - Sunday, 1/8 - Site Logistics

In order to utilize the facilities for the Power League Tournaments, we will need all participants and supporters to adhere to these rules. Failure to comply may result in the loss of gyms and the power league itself. Please do your best to let all of your supporters know about these rules.

Kamehameha Sites
Parking
Parking will be at the parking structure fronting Kekuhaupiʻo gym. Please be sure to park in marked stalls and follow all posted signs on campus. There is handicapped parking on the bottom floor of the structure. Please do not park in the Kekuhaupiʻo "turn around" area fronting the gym or the Keawe "turn around" area, it must be kept clear for security and/or fire access. Also, there is very limited parking at Keawe gym area and it will be reserved for handicapped access (placards required). All teams and supporters will be expected to park at the Kekuhaupiʻo parking structure and walk to the gym via the stairs. Coaches will be asked to support in enforcement of these guidelines.

Campus and Facility Rules
In order to continue to utilize facilities on the Kamehameha Campus, we are requesting that all coaches, teams and their supporters, abide by these rules. Please share this information to your team and the supporters.
  1. No Smoking  - Our campus is a no smoking campus and it is not allowed anywhere on campus.
  2. Food and Drink are not allowed into Gym Areas - All food and drink must be consumed outside of the gym areas. No Water will be allowed into the gym. 
  3. Chairs - Chairs with rubber bottoms will be allowed into the gym area for seating. Please abide by the facility manager and officials in the placement of chairs for safety purposes.
  4. No Potlucks/Setups – Per region policy - Only individual bag lunches/drinks area allowed. Our campus also has a “no cooler” rule for all athletic events on campus and we are requesting that all teams will abide by it. The tournament director will discuss with the coaching staff with issues for kokua with enforcement. This is important to share with your supporters as we do not want to jeopardize our facilities use for this league and in the future.
  5. Please do not set up in the areas marked as “no setup”- It will be marked off on the day of the tournament. They will be asked to move. We are going to be having a total of 32 teams in the two gym areas and please be mindful of your area and to allow space for all groups.
  6. Please break down immediately at the conclusion of the tournament play for the day. Please be mindful of your area as there are a few groups that have taken more area and not taken in account that there are many other teams sharing a very limited area. Please be mindful and considerate of your area and our facilities. Please place all trash into the proper receptacles and leave all areas clean.
Kalihi Valley Gym Site
The Kalihi Valley Gym is located near the Kahilhi Police Station and Pool in Kalihi Valley. Park in the lot adjacent to the Police Station and walk down. 

No food or drink will be allowed into the gym area. Please be respectful of the gym areas and requests of gym staff when there.

    Information

    The 2020 Power League will have 48 teams this season qualifying for the 36 team league. Qualifying play will be starting on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Kekuhaupiʻo and Keawe Gyms at the Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama Campus.
